When viewing a card (like a work order, form, checklist, or shift), you may want to rename a field so it’s clearer for your team.
For example, your team might use a different term, or you may want to add a hint to guide what should be filled out. With Coast’s customization options, you can easily edit field names to make workflows match your team’s language and needs.
Note: Customization is only available in no-code workflows. If your workflow doesn’t have these options, you can reach out to our team to discuss migrating to one that does.
At this time, customization features are only supported on Desktop. Please log in to your Coast at app.coastapp.com.
How to edit an existing field’s label:
- Click on the Workspace Title at the top of your screen to access the Menu.
- Select Fields. This is where you can manage how the form appears to everyone who has access to the workspace.
- Click on the field you want to update to see the available options.
-
You’ll see the option to rename both the Label
and the Placeholder Text:
Label – The text that always appears above a field.
Placeholder Text – The text shown inside a field when it’s empty.
Example: Label: “Notes” | Placeholder: “Describe the problem or issue”Tip: Fill in both fields—even if they’re the same word—to keep forms clear.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
