In Coast, conversations happen in groups and direct messages (DMs). To start and join conversations, learn how to send and read messages.
Steps to send and read messages:

- From the home screen, open the group you want to send a message in. You can also start a new group by tapping on the pencil icon in the upper right hand corner
, click on New Group, invite your team members, and give it a name. - Click the message field in the bottom and start writing your message.
- Send the message by pressing the send button
. - If a group has a red dot notification in your group list, that means there are unread messages. You can click the group with the red dot notification to open the conversation and view unread messages.
- From the left hand side of the home screen, open the group you want to send a message in. You can also start a new group by tapping on the pencil icon in the upper right hand corner , click on New Group.
- Click the message field in the bottom and start writing your message.
- Send the message by pressing the send button or pressing the enter button.
