You can use the free version of Coast for as long as you'd like, and there's no limit to the number of users that you can add to your account, the messages you can send, and the cards that you can create. But there are a few limits to consider on the free plan:
- Message history:
After you hit the 2,000 message limit, you can continue to send as many messages as you like on the free plan but only the last 7 days of messages can be viewed and searched.
- Card history:
After you hit the 25 card limit, you can continue to create as many cards as you like on the free plan but only the last 7days of cards can be viewed and searched.
- File storage:
Add up to 5GB of files to your workspace on the free plan.
- File size limits:
Add files up to 3MB to any message or card.
Tip: Upgrading to a paid plan will remove all of the limits above, and increase your business's file storage limit.
Message History Limit
You can send unlimited messages and view and search and past messages until you hit the 2,000 message limit.
If your business exceeds the message limit, users can continue to send unlimited messages, but you will only be able to view and search messages from the last 7days. If you upgrade your business to a paid plan, all your message history will become available again.
What counts as a message
Any message that is sent to a workspace or direct message counts as a message.
Here are some examples to keep in mind:
- A one-word message are counted the same as a message with 500 words. They both count as one message sent.
- Links, images, emojis, and uploaded files that are sent all count towards your business's total number of messages sent.
What is a card?
Each workspace in Coast has a list in it that enables your business to do workflows such as employee scheduling, task management, work order tracking, and much more. A card is the form that is used to create an item in each of these workflows, like creating and assigning a shift, a task, a work order, a checklist, etc. Think of a card as the form that you use to put all the information you need for any workflow.
Here is an example of using a card to create a task:
Card History Limits
You can create unlimited cards, and view and search and past cards until you hit the 25 card limit.
If your business exceeds the limit, users can continue to create unlimited cards, but you will only be able to view and search cards that were created from the last 7 days. If you upgrade your business to a paid plan, all your card history will become available again.
Here are some scenarios that will happen if you exceed the card limit and stay on the free plan:
- For tasks or work orders, you will not be able to view a task that was created 15 days ago
- For the shift scheduler, you will not be able to view a shift that was created 20 days ago to see who worked on that day.
What counts as a card
Any form that you use to create a shift, task, shift, work order, etc in any workspace is counted as a card.
Here are some example to keep in mind:
- You create two shift cards in the Shift Scheduler that is assigned to two of your employees. This counts as two cards.
- You create a task card with a due date and subtasks in a workspace. This counts as one card.
Note: Recurring cards do not count towards the card limit until the day of the card. For example, for a recurring shift that repeats weekly on Monday, every upcoming Monday, a card will be counted towards your limit.
File storage and size limits
On the free version of Coast, businesses have up to 5 GB of file storage available. Anything uploaded to a workspace (images, videos, screenshots, PDFs, documents, etc) counts towards this limit.
Also keep in mind that on the free version of Coast, you can only add files that are 3 MB or less in size. If you need to upload files bigger than 3 MB, you will have to upgrade.
If your business reaches the limit, users will not be able to upload anymore files until you upgrade to a paid plan to increase your account storage. If you choose to upgrade, your file storage limits will increase to:
- 10GB on the Starter plan
- 50GB on the Plus plan
